13 confirmed mumps cases in Anchorage outbreak
Multiple cases of mumps have been confirmed in Anchorage, officials said Friday. "We're currently experiencing a mumps outbreak in Anchorage and right now we have 13 confirmed cases," said Joe McLaughlin, state epidemiologist and chief of the section of epidemiology with the Department of Health and Social Services. Mumps is a viral illness that causes headaches, fever and swollen salivary glands under the jaw. It's the first outbreak in Alaska in decades. The last one was in 1995 in..>> view originalRecovery Month events happening across Anchorage
ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Like most everyone else, Tiffany Hall, Recover Alaska Executive Director, has good days and bad days. "I have highs and lows," she said. "But I would say the lowest day now is better than even the highest day when I was still active in my addiction." Hall has been sober for nearly eight years now, the anniversary of her sobriety coming up at the end of the month, which just so happens to be a time designated to celebrating those in sobriety. For a long time, a band releasing an album on a major label could pretty much make a video, sit back and watch their ..>> view originalInterview of Vice President Pence by David Stieren, KFQD-Anchorage
